Chris grew up in Sheffield, where his love for nature and the outdoors blossomed. Fishing as a kid sparked his interest in the city’s rivers, and he can’t help but pause to check out the water whenever he walks over a bridge.

With a degree in Geography, Chris joined the River Stewardship Company four years ago and now runs Riverlutions Stewardship Skills Schemes, where he gets to meet and work with people who are just as passionate about helping local rivers.

His favorite river is the Sheaf, especially the beautiful stretch in Lady Spring Wood near Abbeydale Intertidal Hamlet. He also had a fantastic experience on a field trip to the Tagliamento River in Italy, which flows out of the Dolomites. It’s a stunning, natural river that hasn’t been much altered by humans, and Chris was truly impressed by its beauty.
