Martin grew up in Sydney, Australia, where his love for the outdoors developed during weekends at the beach and family camping trips. After finishing university, he pursued a career in Outdoor Education, traveling across Australia to share his passion for nature with like-minded individuals. This path led him to explore the globe, focusing on environmental education and conservation work—anything that kept him out of an office.
By 2017, after spending a few years in Sheffield working with the Peak District National Park, RSPB Dovestones, and even as a Primary School PE teacher, Martin joined the River Stewardship Company as a site supervisor. He later became a project officer, working on the moors and rivers around Sheffield and Leeds. Most recently, he took on the role of team leader for the Sheffield Stewardship Partnership Team at Riverlution.
Having explored numerous incredible rivers, both big and small, Martin finds it difficult to choose a favorite, often gravitating toward the more remote and hidden gems.
